J&J Mechanical was entrusted with significant renovations at the renowned Smithsonian American Indian Museum in New York City. We committed to preserve the site’s historic integrity while installing a new plumbing system, upgrading the climate control system, and renovating the exhibit shell areas. Our replacement of outdated absorption and electric chillers with a state-of-the-art cooling plant, featuring a Siemens Control system and six modulating chillers with electromagnetic bearings, was a centerpiece of this project.
Throughout the work, we prioritized maintaining the museum’s operational status, installing temporary chillers to control cooling and humidity levels. This safeguarded the museum’s priceless exhibits while we commissioned the new system for optimal efficiency. This key project illustrates our proficiency in handling complex technical tasks while showing the utmost respect for cultural heritage.
